What it’s all about
by Jim on Jan.31, 2010, under Entertainment, Politics
As we start a new week, in a new month in a relatively new year, with acrimonious political battles raging even stronger, I thought it would be fitting to recall that we are all Americans; and what better way than through music. I was surprised to discover that the singer is none other than Ayla Brown, the daughter of Sen Elect Scott Brown of Massachusetts. I also discovered that she was on American Idol in the past. It is a beautiful rendition of our national anthem and I think a perfect start to a Monday, or whenever you hear it.
I would hope that someday the political rancor in Washington can be ratcheted down. Unfortunately it often takes a crisis to unify us. Perhaps if they occasionally listen to someone like Ms Brown they will realize that they are there for us; not the other way around. It is our country and it was paid for with the blood and sacrifices of citizens for over 200 years. The politicians in Washington are our servants not our masters. They need to listen! How about starting with this.
Enjoy!
And the winner is…

OK, so the president  decides he cant take the heat anymore and decides to move the trials of the 9/11 terrorists out of NY. So that assuages the NY crowd,  but now the question is which lucky city and state will have the honor of being the #1 terrorist/wacko target for the next two years? Any volunteers?
I have heard talk of Washington DC. Since they don’t have any senators or congressmen no one has to worry about losing their jobs. It would be close enough for Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder to really understand what these people are all about. But alas, gridlock as bad as it is now would become interminable. so that’s probably out.
I like Chicago personally: the home of Al Capone, Jesse Jackson, Jeremiah Wright the Daley machine and Barack Obama. They know a thing or two about thuggery, blackmail, hard ball politics, and intimidation. If they couldnt win the sporting Olympics, throw them a bone and give them the terrorist Olympics. World class terrorists never before tried… virgin defendants no less. Think of the economic impact to the city and state. A media frenzy; documentaries, movies, fisticuffs. My heart is beating faster just thinking about how great this would be.  And it could be awarded without a silly Olympic vote in Europe.
Or, we could have a military tribunal in Guantanamo. Lets let the fun begin on this one. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Mr Defiant

Wow, I guess the president missed the election in Massachusetts. To the surprise of most observers, he showed little inclination to moderate his policies. Too bad; He missed a great chance to be a unifier.
His attacks on Washington were interesting… HE IS WASHINGTON! Of course the worst people in the world are the banks and Wall St. Too bad he couldn’t remember the cause of the housing fiasco are Barney Frank, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the forcing of banks to accept loans from those who couldn’t afford them.
He plans to freeze some spending starting next year… wow, isnt that great!
He lectured the supreme court on their overturning a century of law with their recent decision to allow corporations to spend their own money on elections.  I guess its only OK for unions to pour money into democratic coffers. God forbid corporations should have the same right?  By the way, very poor form to lambaste another branch of government during the state of the union.  And while we’re at it,  isn’t it interesting that when a supreme court decision goes against the liberals, it must be overturned immediately ; however, decisions they like are immediately settled law and sacrosanct. Cant possibly change a previous court decision when its in their favor.
I did enjoy the one time I saw Nancy Pelosi uncomfortable, and that was when the pres said he supported new nuclear power plants and expanded off shore drilling… anathema for a liberal! Yet she remained stoic and applauded politely, knowing full well that it was a throwaway item that would never be passed by the democratic majority.
Almost as an afterthought as he was winding down this less than inspiring speech he threw in a line about ending don’t ask don’t tell. Now this is a very controversial issue with strong arguments on both sides, and I suspect he did this to try to rally his base. However, like health care, he is waving a red flag at specific groups. Should he be doing this now when there is still so much division?  Mister Unifier he is not. Mr Defiant he is!
The bottom line is that he is not changing.
