Skids and Mudflap

by Jim on Jun.25, 2009, under Entertainment, Politics

I saw the first Transformer  movie  a year or so ago in spite of my initial reluctance because it looked dumb. I had never gotten into Transformers  when I was younger as that was the next generation. I was a child  of the Batman, Superman, Green Hornet,  Ramar of the jungle and Andy’s gang shows. Heck I even remember Topper! But toys and things changing into robots were kind of like the Rubik’s cube which I still haven’t mastered.

Anyway, I was blown away by the movie. The special effects were great; the action was non stop;  it had Shia Lebeouf for Shia fans, and Megan Fox for Megan fans… what more could you ask for? How about a sequel!

Well today the long awaited sequel opened up and I am looking forward to enjoying another 2 hours of mindless escapism. But wait…I just read that there are concerns that Transformers 2 is somehow raising race issues. Clearly something is wrong here as we have a black president and live in a supposedly post racial society… except when  race baiters like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton want to play the race card.

Well here’s the deal . There are two cars in the Transformers movie named Skids and Mudflap that apparently use  street slang and talk in  rap and jive language. One critic related this to Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars episode one who was supposedly a black caricature. I guess I missed that too.  Well the NY Times film critic put the icing on the cake when he wrote that this use of black voices in the cars proves that  “Minstrelsy”  remains in fashion in Hollywood. Wow, that’s deep. He must have gone to film critic graduate school for that one.

This is sad.  I guess every character in every movie has to be race, gender, sex, ethnicity, species neutral. No more Irish accents on cops, Italian accents on mobsters, gay slang on queer eye for the straight guy, black slang on the Jeffersons, Valley girl accents on every California teen movie, etc. It just goes on and on.  God help us if these so called guardians of  purity start looking at Disney animated movies. They will find anything they want including  giant Phallic symbols  in the Little Mermaid. I missed  that too.

Well I will see the movie and decide for myself if I am guilty of a racial crime for enjoying the Transformers 2. If you see it let me know your thoughts. But whatever you do, enjoy your weekend . And don’t let the naysayers  get you down.

When will the anti woman venom end?

by Jim on May.18, 2009, under Uncategorized

Well I don’t know who to be more upset at today, and that is saying something. My choices are David Axelrod, the audience in NPR, the democrat attack establishment, the media who think this is funny,  or any feminist group who remains silent for this continuing assault on a woman. His disgusting comment is in the video.

Who disappoints me more: The senior advisor to the president who  thinks it is ok to liken a female he disagrees with  to a dog? The NPR audience which thinks this is uproariously funny? The media who, other than fox and talk radio don’t question his inappropriateness, because his target is a conservative woman? The democrats who  wont criticize him because they regularly target anti abortion females? But i think my outrage today has to go to the national organization for women and any other woman’s group that sits back and lets a woman be targeted in this cheap ad hominem manner. Where is their integrity? I don’t suppose our boy president will ever chastise his mentor? So i guess its ok to target women in this administration.  It goes on and on and no one complains. This is just so sad.

Unhealthy?

by Jim on Apr.19, 2009, under Politics

David Axelrod, the ventriloquist behind most  of Obama’s speeches, today declared that last week’s tea party protests against the president were unhealthy. Wow, I never guessed health care would enter into this aspect of our lives, but these democrats really care for us. Really? I guess the continuous, vicious protests against President Bush were in a different vein and therefore, not unhealthy. Maybe they were even good for the system?

The real issue here is that these people don’t like criticism period. They can dish it out, but God help us if it is directed at them. Perhaps a bit more humble pie in the diets of these bloated bureaucrats would be in order.

And speaking of unhealthy, it will be interesting to hear the reaction of our dear leader on the occasion of the 4/20 drug protests discussed in the previous article.  How will someone who admittedly used pot and blow be able to back up the men and women  in law enforcement who risk their lives day in and day out to protect our children from illegal drugs? What will be the reaction of our academic institutions to these mass drug ins? Too bad Timothy Leary isnt around anymore… but even in his wildest LSD haze he would never believe what is happening.  Stay tuned.
