I have not made enough money… Have you ?

by Jim on Apr.29, 2010, under Politics

”Now, what we’re doing, I want to be clear, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.”

OK, which anti capitalist said this? If you guessed the President of the United States you would be correct!  After earning a cool 5.5 mil himself last year, he feels he can set limits on how much people can make. I didn’t make 5.5 mil last year, and for the job he’s doing, I think he is way overpaid.  In all honesty, I think the above remark  speaks to who the president really is. He is someone in favor of income redistribution. He is against wall street, the rich, successful entrepreneurs, bankers, the business community, and non union workers.  He has shown a penchant from the start to either demonize the above listed groups  or take actions to transfer money from them for his pet programs.

People shy away from calling him a socialist. but folks , comments like the above are pretty telling. I want to make as much money as I can. Profit is good not bad. It is the engine of the capitalist system. Businesses are there to make money not provide jobs.  The better they do, the more jobs will exist. What a novel concept!  I defy him or anyone else to come up with a better system for  economic growth, productivity and development, and prosperity.  If this was such a bad system why does everyone want to come here?

Further, if he continues to tinker with and cripple our financial infrastructure, then I ask which country on earth will take the lead in helping everywhere there is a disaster or crisis?  I am afraid to think that our president is really not a fan of American capitalism. I believe more and more that he was taught nothing but the evils of the system and that he actually believes it.  I pray he does not completely destroy our economy in his remaining three years.

Have you noticed the price of gas?

by Jim on Jun.16, 2009, under Politics

Have you noticed how expensive gas is these days? Have you also noticed that no one in Washington seems to care?  Anytime a comment is made to someone in officialdom,  the answer always seems to be  “well its not as bad as it was a year and a half ago.” Yeah, but why have the prices gone up 60% this year? And when will they stop?

I fear that the current administration wants  gas prices to go up. It fits perfectly with their agenda of going green, cutting gas usage and forcing Americans to buy smaller cars. Oil is over $70 a barrel and gas is up for the 48th straight day at the pump, now averaging $2.66. If we had this kind of rise in the last administration you can bet there would be howls from the media about how much this is hurting the common man. Well I am the common man and I do not like paying close to $40 again to fill my car.

The saddest thing for me was that we had an incredible window of opportunity when oil prices were less than $40 a barrel to restart a robust domestic drilling program and really put effort into offshore drilling. Sadly, the democrats in control turned back both efforts . Their  most incredible argument, wrong as it was, was that offshore drilling would  take too long. Well it will take another year an a half  thanks to their delaying tactics. And who pays? you and I. Who cares? Not this administration. But, I guess this is the price we pay for having the smartest, brightest ,most eloquent president in history. But wait… whats that I see rolling off the Obama Motors production line?   Wind powered cars! I knew they would have an answer.

Obama Motor Corporation

by Jim on Mar.30, 2009, under Politics

Wow, I’m gone for  a week and we have a new car company, Obama Motors. I cant wait to see what kind of great vehicles will be designed by this group. Clearly they have auto experts there in the west wing that are finely tuned to the wants and needs of the American consumer… Or do you think they will force feed us tiny “clown cars” as Laura Ingraham calls them that are the pride and joy of the left and the green movement, but no one else. Based on what the president has said we need fuel efficient green cars.   I expect the first unsellable vehicle off the OMC lines will be the Acorn: Designed by community organizers for community organizers. It will be paid for by taxes from the upper thirty percent of Americans, built proudly by labor union members in Detroit who will be driving foreign cars themselves, and operate on hot air generated by this administration. The follow on to the Acorn will be the Joe mobile, named after Joe Biden, the ever popular VP. It will only travel as far as commuter rail stations where the drivers can congratulate themselves on their greenliness and have organically grown fair trade coffee while waiting for mass transit which will be bailed out next year.

I cant believe what is happening. An American president fires a corporate CEO, guarantees the warranties of GM cars, and insists that another car company merge with Fiat or it is all over. Where is the outrage? Are people just so numb and disillusioned from this administrations other missteps with the economy, foreign policy, national security etc that they are just too tired to be shocked any more? I am truly afraid for our identity as a free market society. We are the creative and economic engine of the free world yet this president has us acting like the Soviet Union with their five year plans. I am appalled at the constant attacks on business in America by this president and his henchmen. Congress needs to wake up, or at least those who haven’t gone to the dark side… no pun intended or necessary. This is too sad all by itself!
