Election day in Colorado

by Jim on Aug.09, 2010, under Politics

For those of you who are not Colorado voters, please forgive this last minute appeal on behalf of Jane Norton. I have been working on her campaign for the last several weeks and believe she is the absolute best choice to win against the democrat candidate here in November. She has just gone ahead in the polls and truly deserves to win.

She has the experience, the poise, the intelligence and the right mindset. Here is the last campaign update we received, If you are not in Colorado, do whatever you need to in your states to elect the best candidate to stop Obama! If you are a republican in Colorado, please join me in supporting Jane Norton for the US Senate.

THE MORNING COUNTDOWN: 1 FINAL DAY!

Jane Norton and John McCain rip Ken Buck for being weak on terrorism; in a “Joe the Plumber”-type moment, Buck takes heat from voters for supporting amnesty, Jane continues racking up the endorsements, and we’re now in the final hours before Primary day, so drop those ballots off in person. Read on:

4. 1 FINAL DAY

McCAIN: “THE BUCK STOPS HERE”

This weekend, Jane was joined on the campaign trail by Arizona Senator John McCain. At several stops throughout the state yesterday, the duo pointed out the real differences between Jane and Ken Buck regarding fighting terrorism and keeping our country safe. While Jane favors a “double down” strategy that will ensure Afghanistan does not become a safe harbor for terrorists, Buck favors the isolationist, cut-and-run strategy advocated by Ron Paul and others:

Grand Junction Daily Sentinel: “The slayings of 10 aid workers in Afghanistan by the Taliban are a stark reminder of what could happen without American involvement there, U.S. Sen. John McCain said. McCain stumped Sunday at Mesa State College for Grand Junction native Jane Norton, urging about 150 people to get out the vote in the Republican primary election … Buck “has veered toward the isolationist and retreatist wing” of the Republican Party, Norton told supporters gathered on the northwest corner of 12th Street and North Avenue in a campaign stop designed to highlight differences between herself and Buck on the war on terror. Buck has a “reckless misunderstanding” of the nature of the thinking that resulted in the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Norton said.”

Denver Post: “Norton focused again on attacking the credibility of her GOP opponent, Ken Buck, who opposes nation-building in Afghanistan and has said he believes in leaving the country after ensuring it is stable and not a haven for terrorists. McCain called Buck’s vision for a withdrawal from Afghanistan in the near future “naive” and applauded Norton’s vow to redouble efforts there. “We need a lot of help right now, we Republicans, those of us who are fiscal conservatives and those of us who stand for a strong national defense policy,” said McCain, who made a rare departure from his own heated primary.”

Denver Daily News: “Sen. John McCain joined Republican Senate candidate Jane Norton yesterday to call out her primary opponent for being “naïve” on foreign policy and the war in Afghanistan. McCain and Norton blasted Ken Buck, Norton’s Republican challenger in the closely contested Senate primary, for telling the Colorado Statesman that terrorists would be deterred from striking America if they conducted a cost benefit analyses about attacking the country. The pair appeared for the media yesterday morning in Englewood. “Anybody who believes the Taliban conducts cost (benefit) analysis is incredibly naïve,” said McCain. “The Taliban and al Qaeda want to destroy America and everything we stand for and believe in, they don’t care about the cost.””

KDVR: “Looking for an edge to overtake Ken Buck in Tuesday’s GOP Senate primary, Jane Norton campaigned with Arizona Senator John McCain on Sunday in an effort to boost her credentials on foreign policy, even though the issue is hardly the top concern to most conservative voters. “On the question of winning this war in Afghanistan, I will stand with David Petraeus and John McCain,” said Norton in Englewood Sunday while standing next to McCain himself. Norton also attacked Buck as “naive” for a statement about terrorists doing a cost-benefit analysis before deciding where to strike next. “Terrorists aren’t taught the tools of cost benefit analysis in terrorist training camps, they are taught to hate, to kill, and to maim,” Norton said. “The terrorists who attacked us on 9-11 didn’t do a cost benefit analysis, and neither did the Shoe Bomber or the Christmas Bomber.”"

KREX-TV: “Seeking a last minute boost before Tuesday’s GOP Senate primary, Jane Norton enlisted the help of Arizona Senator John McCain in blasting her opponent Ken Buck for being too weak when it came to the war on terror. “Ken has veered in the direction of the isolationist, retreatist wing of our party,” Norton said at a rally with McCain on the Mesa State Campus in Grand Junction Sunday afternoon. The pair also made a stop in Denver earlier in the day … “On foreign policy, Ken Buck stands with Ron Paul, and they’re gravely mistaken,” Norton said. Norton has considered using a troop surge in Afghanistan similar to the one used in Iraq championed by McCain. “[McCain] was right in Iraq when everyone else was saying ‘Give up and go home’,” Norton said. “Senator McCain said we need to press on and finish the job, and it can work in Afghanistan as well.””

BUCK’S “JOE THE PLUMBER” MOMENT

The issue of immigration is a huge concern among Colorado GOP Primary voters.

In recent weeks, Jane Norton has garnered the endorsements of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and the Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist. Jane has proven to be a leader on immigration – pledging to secure the borders and clearly stating no amnesty.

Ken Buck’s position, on the other hand, is not as clear, as he told USA Today recently that he was open to the idea of a “path to citizenship.”

Buck’s immigration position has not gone over well with voters. This week, at an event in Colorado Springs, Buck laid out his view on immigration to a voter, only to be told in response that “it sounds a lot like amnesty to me.”

This exchange is similar to the one Senator Obama had with Joe the Plumber in the closing days of the 2008 campaign when Obama told Plumber about his plan to “spread the wealth around,” earning him a sharp rebuke that drew national headlines.

JANE’S RECENT ENDORSEMENTS

In stark contrast to Ken Buck’s foray into amnesty, Jane has been clear in her stance against illegal immigration and has earned support from some of the strongest voices on the subject – Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and the Minuteman Project’s Jim Gilchrist.

Back on line: Norton for Senate

by Jim on Jul.25, 2010, under Politics

Well what Obama and the Dems haven’t done yet, nature did last week. A lightning strike at our house temporarily shut down my blog as well as multiple other activities until all systems could be restored. Happily, no one was hurt, although the underground bunker did fill with smoke and had to be evacuated.  But we are back and stronger than ever!

Today I  want to pass along this news item to my Colorado friends. As you know, I have been actively campaigning for Jane Norton to win the republican nomination for the senate race against Michael Bennett.  Her primary  opponent, Ken Buck is a take no prisoners type from Weld county. While he also espouses conservative positions , he lacks experience. poise, and has been prone to make huge gaffes like saying voters should vote for him because he doesn’t wear high heels, or his being reprimanded for ethics violations while a federal prosecutor.

Well tonight Ken made another serious misstep that I am reprinting here. Lets support Jane Norton because of her experience, her poise, her command of the issues,  and her commitment to conservative values. The primary is Aug 10th, but the mail ballots are already out.  Please support Jane for senate.

KEN BUCK TRASHES TEA PARTIERS

Buck Dishes Out More Profanity, This Time at Tea Parties

Denver, CO – Today, Ken Buck was caught on tape again. After spending the week explaining his high heels comments, today Ken Buck is explaining why he said he was “sick of Tea Partiers.” Read the full story here.

Said Norton campaign spokesperson Cinamon Watson, “Ken Buck is two steps short of a fraud. He’s a self-proclaimed tea partier who trashes tea partiers when he thinks no one is looking. He’s an alleged fiscal conservative who increased his budget by 40 percent. He’s a Tom Tancredo disciple who trashes Tancredo when he thinks the mic is off. Ken says he can appeal to swing voters and beat Michael Bennet, and then trashes the roughly 50 percent of voters who wear high heels. Bottom line: the voters of Colorado can’t trust Ken Buck.”
