Here and There
by Jim on Oct.29, 2009, under Politics, Travel
It’s 18 degrees out now and lots of snow on the ground, but it’s great to be back in Colorado. I spent four days on the east coast, Virginia/DCÂ and came away with a few thoughts:Â
It is still green and fall like there; it is brown and white here. The traffic is ridiculous there; not so bad here. The Redskins are in deep trouble there; the Bronco’s are 6-0 here.  Obama golfs a lot there, and parties with celebs in the White house; We believe the country is at war here and 17 soldiers from Ft Carson alone have died this month in Afghanistan. People are trying to get by here; Pelosi, Reid and Obama pat themselves on the back for all that they claim to be doing there. The people are not overly happy here; but the democratic candidate for governor in Virgina is about to get a measure of  the people’s frustrations there. All in all a fun trip inside the beltway, but I am sure glad I had my ticket out!
The Denver Magic Show
by Jim on Feb.16, 2009, under Politics
I hate being used . Unfortunately tomorrow the President will use me , the citizens of Denver and the rest of Colorado as a prop in his magic act. Misdirection is what they call it I think. Dont let the audience see what’s really happening. So while the cameras focus on Denver, and Colorado, the democrats will pull off one of the greatest con jobs in history. And the president will do it with style and panache, and all will be mystified.
There will be protesters. A rally is being planned for noon at the state capitol to protest this extravaganza. But I expect there will be little coverage. As more people read this bill more will come out about just how brazen the democrats were. But it will be too late.
Presidents day was a chance to recall some of our great leaders and great decisions that shaped our country for the better. Tomorrow in Denver will not be one of them. I feel dirty that my state is a prop in this charade.  Somehow I am supposed to feel proud about this. But in reality, I am just being used… and I hate being used.
Warnings

Â
I heard on the news today that due to warning of an imminent volcano eruption in Alaska, the Air Force had evacuated aircraft and personnel from a nearby base to Washington State. A prudent action in the face of a warning. While few of us get volcano warnings, we all regularly get winter weather warnings, severe storm warnings, high heat warnings  and high wind warnings. When they occur we take action or suffer at our own peril.
My Friend Bob sent me a video clip, attached, showing the warnings that were raised from 2001 on, dealing with the nations housing, lending ,and financial institutions. They were raised from the president on down, but  ignored and rebuffed by leading democrats in congress. This video clip is documentary evidence of the arrogance and deceitfulness of some high ranking members in congress in the face of warning. They are culpable for a great deal of what happened last fall yet refuse to accept responsibility. Worse, they blame others, and now are attempting another magic trick: bennies for their friends and supporters in a bloated package of what they claim are economic stimuli.
Today we have new warnings! Warnings from opposition members in congress; warnings from economists; warning from historians; warnings from other countries.  Red flags are up,  and I believe the American public is now sensing those warnings. The video below  is a warning to all of us about the dangers of going along and not heeding warnings. It gets to the truth of this crisis. Once you know the truth, you will be angry. I was.  But rather than getting depressed, channel the anger. To quote from the New Testament, “you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. ” Our fight is just beginningÂ
