Do not Be Afraid
by Jim on Apr.01, 2010, under Uncategorized
A number of years ago, Cardinal O’Connor delivered a sermon in St Patrick’s Cathedral entitled, “Do Not be Afraid.” In a letter to a companion who was suffering the imminent death of his mother, the cardinal wrote at the end of the letter the words “do not be afraid.” Those were the words the angel said to Mary; They were the words the angels said to the shepherds; They were the words Jesus said to Peter.
There is a lot to be concerned about today: war, sickness, the economy, crime, our families, the future of our country, etc. But at the end of the Holiest week of the year for Christians, we can be renewed and thankful because of the sacrifice Jesus made for us. He gave us hope. He gave us a second chance.
As Cardinal O”Connor said, “He is telling us trust me; trust in my love; let me take you into my arms whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever be your temptation, whatever be your trial. Trust me; Do not be afraid.” What a wonderful way to remember Jesus sacrifice 2000 years ago. Have a wonderful Easter and never forget the gift given us by God, and do not be afraid.
Friday thought
by Jim on Jan.30, 2009, under Intelligence / National Security
Here’s a Friday thought that I felt was worth mulling over as we go into the weekend. I It was forwarded to me from my friend Tom in Florida . It was reportedly from a letter sent by a woman  to a newspaper in New Brunswick Canada. Whatever the source,  I think it says a lot in a few short words.
Only five   defining forces have ever offered to die for you:Â
Â
1. Jesus   ChristÂ
Â
2. The Canadian Soldier.Â
Â
3. The British   Soldier.Â
Â
4. The US Soldier, andÂ
Â
5. Â Â The Australian SoldierÂ
Â
One died for your soul, the other 4 for   your   freedom
