I Just Don’t Understand

by on Jun.23, 2011, under Politics

Do you ever sometimes  scratch your head and wonder why something has happened? Today I had a number of perplexing items that caused me to scratch my head, and they all pertain to this administration.

I was pretty happy this week to see gas prices falling steadily , now in the $3.40′s a gallon. Not great, but better than the $3.90′s. So when the president announced that he was releasing 30 million barrels of oil from our strategic reserve today, I just started wondering, why now? We needed this months ago when we were in serious trouble, but he wouldn’t do it. Is it happening now because he is plummeting in the polls in all areas? We need a domestic production reprieve not some feel good temporary action by the president. It just makes me wonder.

Another thing that makes me wonder is Hillary Clinton chiding congress on Libya today by asking ” Just whose side are they on?”Now wait one second Hills, shouldn’t we be asking you who the rebels are in Libya before we proceed further down this road? You didn’t do such a bang-up job in Egypt by forcing out an ally for a possibly worse government. Please tell us who the rebels are  in Libya and why they deserve our support before you impugn our loyalty. Your track record as secretary of state leaves much to be desired.

Finally, the president last night  equivocated significantly in his speech on Afghanistan. Things are not good there and they probably wont ever be no matter what we do. Don’t try and deceive the public by saying that things are good enough to start taking troops out.  That is purely political theater. If we need to leave, leave. Have the COURAGE to take a stand.  The most brilliant communicator of all time can’t even communicate a coherent idea. I really just don’t understand.

You made excellent points. I think the reason we do not freely express our disgust against a group of extremists who wish us harm is FEAR. Nobody wants to be threatened. Why don’t we threaten back… I am tired of taking the high road, especially when our enemies wish it to be full of explosives.
