Budget Alert… Action needed

by on Dec.15, 2010, under Politics

The Democrats in Congress are trying one last time to repudiate the will of the American people. They are using this lame duck session to ram through an egregious spending bill that should be an  affront to  all Americans. Here is an alert I received  from the Americans for prosperity:

“Harry Reid’s lame duck Senate is pushing one last out-of-control, earmark laden $1.1 trillion “omnibus” spending bill and I’m asking you to make sure you tell your Senators to vote NO CLICK HERE

And, Republicans need to hear from us just like the Democrats do so please contact both your Senators now.

Just 4 eye-popping numbers in the Reid “omnibus” spending bill say it all:

*1,924 pages long at $575.13 million spent per page

*$1 billion — for pre-funding of the un-Constitutional Obama/Pelosi/Reid health care takeover

*6,488 pork-barrel earmarks identified so far

Think about this.  After failing to complete its budget for yet another year, this failed Senate is pushing this $1.1 trillion monstrosity of deficit spending.

As Harry Reid arrogantly said, “We’re not through.  Congress ends January 4.”

So Reid is ignoring the November 2nd election and thumbing his nose at the American people with this “omnibus” spending bill.  Let’s not let him get away with it.

He needs 60 votes to force a vote so let’s make sure he does not get it.”

The text of the email which I sent to both of my senators is below. I encourage you to contact your senators and stop this now. It is a disgrace. This is not what the American people voted for. This lame duck action is a sham. THey had all year to work on the budget but were scared to show the public what they were doing before the election. Nolw they intend to punish us with an in our face bill that codifies all their special projects. If you agree with the text below, please send it to your senators today. Thanks !

The omnibus bill is an unaffordable disaster that must be defeated.  The Senate had all year to pass appropriations and failed to do its job.  It has no right to completely disregard a national election and do so now.  The American people rejected earmarks, but this bill has thousands of them.  The American people oppose ObamaCare, and voted in huge numbers for candidates who promised not to fund it.  This bill lavishly funds ObamaCare, allowing implementation to move forward.  The American people demanded spending restraint.  This bill busts the budget one last time.  Any senator who votes for this bill is putting pork before principle, and using a lame duck session to cheat the American people.  I urge you to VOTE NO on cloture on the omnibus.  I further urge you to support a clean short-term continuing resolution to allow the new Congress to get to work next year agressively cutting spending.
I hope you stand with the people who have spoked loud and clear in November.

Mr Depressing

by on Feb.04, 2010, under Politics

While I was in the doctors office today waiting for a test, I had to undergo the additional discomfort  of listening to the president on CNN. It was a crowded waiting room and I was reluctant to put on cartoons or anything more inspiring when I realized his problem: He is a downer! Forget hope and change and soaring rhetoric, the man is depressing.  The sky is falling, we are in a horrible state, it will be a while before things get better, everyone has to cut, and definitely, don’t have fun and go to Las Vegas.

Who needs this constant barrage of depression! I am so tired of being lectured to, harangued at, and made to be a target by an administration that engages in class warfare daily. He tells me how bad my  life is and how much worse its going to be unless I sign on to a national suicide pact that is his trillion dollar budget.  Good grief this man knows nothing about leadership. Where is his optimism, his positivity, his encouragement, his vision. And don’t look for it in the budget because it is not there!

He is so devoid of vision and imagination that he basically cancelled NASA’s manned space program.  Way to go. Lots of vision there. Lets just turn space over to the Chinese, the Indians, or how about the Iranians who just attempted a satellite launch today!  I am waiting for the day when I can hear him inspire not scare; lead not harangue; and be truthful, not disingenuous. How long will I have to wait?

A Budget Disaster

by on Feb.01, 2010, under Politics

Among the most irresponsible things in the President’s 2011 budget is $237 million for the purchase and upgrade of an already existing prison in Illinois. This is his way of moving terrorists out of Guantanamo, an  and already existing prison that costs little to maintain.  Can he not see the absurdity of this? We are in a budget crunch and we need to spend this kind of money for a prison that is already there? Who benefits besides people in Thompson Illinois and probably corrupt officials who will rake a fair amount off of the top of this?

There are many other items in this budget that need to be examined closely: his attack on the so called rich; his attack on banking and wall street; his inclusion of cap and trade revenue which will never get passed; his increase in capital gains; his elimination of other tax breaks etc. All giving every man woman and child in this country a debt of $49,000. I have enough to worry about without sticking my children with that kind of debt in their future. Lets get real Mr President, and go back to the drawing board. This budget should be DOA!
