And the winner is…
by Jim on Jan.29, 2010, under Politics
OK, so the president  decides he cant take the heat anymore and decides to move the trials of the 9/11 terrorists out of NY. So that assuages the NY crowd,  but now the question is which lucky city and state will have the honor of being the #1 terrorist/wacko target for the next two years? Any volunteers?
I have heard talk of Washington DC. Since they don’t have any senators or congressmen no one has to worry about losing their jobs. It would be close enough for Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder to really understand what these people are all about. But alas, gridlock as bad as it is now would become interminable. so that’s probably out.
I like Chicago personally: the home of Al Capone, Jesse Jackson, Jeremiah Wright the Daley machine and Barack Obama. They know a thing or two about thuggery, blackmail, hard ball politics, and intimidation. If they couldnt win the sporting Olympics, throw them a bone and give them the terrorist Olympics. World class terrorists never before tried… virgin defendants no less. Think of the economic impact to the city and state. A media frenzy; documentaries, movies, fisticuffs. My heart is beating faster just thinking about how great this would be.  And it could be awarded without a silly Olympic vote in Europe.
Or, we could have a military tribunal in Guantanamo. Lets let the fun begin on this one. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Keystone Cops in Washington
by Jim on Nov.19, 2009, under Intelligence / National Security, Politics
Although I shouldn’t be, I am stunned every day by the amateurishness and incompetence of the current administration. Case in point, the defense of the outrageous decision to treat the 9/11 terrorists as criminals and bring them to a civil trial in NY City. If you watched The Attorney General’s attempted defense of this purely political decision yesterday, you might get an idea of how  Custer might have felt at the Little Big Horn. There was no way out. Holder couldn’t provide one example of this having been done before. The Governor of NY is against it. Even Chuck Schumer, the sad excuse for a senator from NY said they would need over 70 Million dollars for more security. SO, why is this a good idea?
But the Coup de Grace delivered by the attorney general and his boss was yet to be delivered. Holder guaranteed a guilty verdict; Obama did too, then backed off when he realized that wasnt consistent with a “fair trial.” But it was too late… any defense attorney worth his salt will use this as proof that the case is rigged. How could anyone get a fair trial when the president and attorney general says you are guilty and going to die. I am not a lawyer thank goodness, but even I realize these were really stupid comments. But look at the source? These are people who play politics daily with everything. This trial was only about paying off the left wing, closing Guantanamo, embarrassing Bush , and making Obama look good to the world.
Well it backfired. They all look like chumps and the nation stands to be embarrassed big time. And that is not counting the actual circus of a trial and possible violence associated with it. But lets not do it at Guantanamo… that would be too easy for the boys from Chicago. Lets see how they sort this disaster out. Every day is a new episode of the Keystone Cops in Washington.  I should be used to it, but I am still stunned.
Congressman Murtha
by Jim on Jan.25, 2009, under Intelligence / National Security, Politics
One really has to feel sorry for the good people of western Pennsylvania to be represented by the likes of Congressman John Murtha. First he insults marines in Iraq, accusing them of being war criminals. They were exonerated and he has not apologized. He then  accused his constituents of being racist rednecks. He has not apologized for that either.  Now he states that the terrorist suspects housed at Guantanamo Bay Cuba would be no more dangerous in a secure facility in Pennsylvania than they were in Cuba. Way to go John!  I would love to see the looks on peoples faces in Scranton , Shippensburg, Carlisle or Butler as they read their Sunday papers and see that they are being volunteered to replace Guantanamo. I realize Pennsylvanians will now all be lining up for this plumb assignment, so lets look at some possible Pennsylvania locations for the terrorists:
Hershey. The home of chocolate. That will teach them a lesson. Terrorists hate chocolate because it is sweet and reminds them of America.
Philadelphia. It has an astronomical murder rate. The  terrorists would be safer incarcerated than on the streets.
Scranton. The mythical home of the Dunder- Mifflin paper company. Terrorism could give the city a well needed shot in the arm.Â
Gettysburg. If the terrorists  think we arent serious, look at what we did to each other on principle over three days in 1863.
Pittsburgh. I would not want to mess with the Steeler defense ever.
Â
But after careful consideration, my personal recommendation  is Lancaster Pennsylvania, heart of the Amish country. Decent, hard working, plain folks who do not believe in violence, and live life in many ways as they did in the 1800′s. Wow, they are at least 500 years more advanced than the terrorists ,whose philosophy and intellectual thinking  was already bankrupt in the middle ages. As a bonus,  the liberals could show the world that the terrorists are surrounded not by iron fences, but by love , kindness, non-violence and shoo fly pie. What a deal. If you have a better idea let me know Pennsylvania. But for now,  I am going to send this to Congressman Murtha before he does anything stupid. Oops, too late.
