When will the anti woman venom end?
by Jim on May.18, 2009, under Uncategorized
Well I don’t know who to be more upset at today, and that is saying something. My choices are David Axelrod, the audience in NPR, the democrat attack establishment, the media who think this is funny, Â or any feminist group who remains silent for this continuing assault on a woman. His disgusting comment is in the video.

Who disappoints me more: The senior advisor to the president who  thinks it is ok to liken a female he disagrees with to a dog? The NPR audience which thinks this is uproariously funny? The media who, other than fox and talk radio don’t question his inappropriateness, because his target is a conservative woman? The democrats who  wont criticize him because they regularly target anti abortion females? But i think my outrage today has to go to the national organization for women and any other woman’s group that sits back and lets a woman be targeted in this cheap ad hominem manner. Where is their integrity? I don’t suppose our boy president will ever chastise his mentor? So i guess its ok to target women in this administration. It goes on and on and no one complains. This is just so sad.
Freedom to speak
by Jim on May.12, 2009, under Politics
I listened to this speech by Carrie Prejean today and could not help but be moved. Over the past two weeks, she was trashed by the media and made to look the fool because they didn’t like her opinion. Any possible chink they could find in her past was dragged out and magnified. No one is perfect. The culture of character assassination has gone wild.
I believe in a variety of opinions which is why I am writing this blog and enjoying your reactions. Going after someone on a personal level is the kind of gutter action that I deplore in politicians. Some have made an art form of it and are proud of their abilities to attack people. Remember the Clinton war room and the team that would go after women accusing the president of indiscretions. They called it damage control after “bimbo ” eruptions. Remember the awful things said about Sarah Palin and her daughter. And they continue to trash them. I also deplore people on the right who do this such as Michael Savage. My friend Paul always talks about the fact that we are losing our civility. I think he is right.   These kinds of personal attacks will deprive us of qualified candidates in the future who don’t need this harassment. Lets have a discussion on the issues and leave the ad hominem stuff out.  Here is an excerpt from an emotional  Miss California this morning. Thoughts?
True to her beliefs

Perhaps some of you have seen or heard of the controversy at the Miss USA pageant yesterday. The bottom line is a contestant stands up to a pointedly controversial question put to her by noted Hollywood sleaze merchant  and self proclaimed “Queen of all media,” Perez Hilton.
His question to Carrie Prejean, Miss California. who by most accounts was leading in every category, was posed  to force a positive answer on gay marriage. He didnt get it and she ended up as first runner up. Worse, he demeans and insults her in vile terms this morning on his web site. So much for sensitivity and allowing everyone to express their own opinion. Oh I forgot. You can only express an opinion if it supports the correct agenda. All this is on the attached video.Â
It is sad that such things happen, but it is wonderfully encouraging to see people take stands that may be unpopular. This young woman I’m sure realized what a trap this question was. But she chose to speak her conscience. God bless her and shame on Perez Hilton and the organization that invited him. Perhaps Donald Trump who owns the Miss USA Pageant should intervene?
She may be first runner up in the pageant, but in my mind, she is the true winner.
